Connected successfully
ADAC is involved in a variety of events, many of which focus on enhancing operator capabilities in the Arctic region or strive to anticipate needed future policy, strategy and plans. Principally, ADAC focuses its research upon the needs of the United States Coast Guard, while in general addressing safety, security and crisis response in the Arctic region. Workshops, exercises, assessments and a variety of other activities and events are conducted to better understand capability gaps in order to improve the U.S. Coast Guard’s response in the Arctic. Additionally, conferences and activities allow the Center to collaborate and gain additional knowledge that may further apply to advance ADAC’s mission, contribute to improved capabilities of the U.S. Coast Guard and other Department of Homeland Security needs, and to support U.S. interests, and as suitable, America's Security and Defense Allies and Partners.
All ADAC supported and sponsored events are oriented to the community of Arctic-oriented professionals and invited guests and unless specifically announced, are not open for media/reporting activities.
Virtual Event
TBA
The Virtual Assessment will consist of USCG Leadership presentations on communications challenges and future uses for increased connectivity along with Industry participation in highlighting emerging technologies. The Virtual Assessment will include liberal use of virtual breakout groups to discuss near-term, mid-term, and long-term technologies and identify connectivity transition, utilization, and integration strategies and pathways. The Arctic Domain Awareness Center and the Alaska and Arctic Maritime Communications and Connectivity Analysis Project team look forward to your participation in this event as we seek to identify and further explore the current and future communications needs of Alaskan and Arctic operators and the key technologies with the potential to serve those needs in the future.

The Arctic Domain Awareness Center, in collaboration with the U.S. Coast Guard District 17 and Sector Anchorage, is hosting a two-day workshop on the development of an environmental risk index. This index is focused on coastal facilities and infrastructure under the inspection purview of USCG. Aware that the Arctic region is exposed to the impacts of climate change, increasing coastal erosion, and more frequent precipitation, USCG seeks to develop a risk index as an operator decision support tool focused on bulk oil/fuel facilities. This two day workshop will bring together experts from a wide range of disciplines and utilize a collaborative group setting to identify data sources, evaluate inputs to a proposed decision support tool, and determine which models will advance the development of the risk index.

In partnership with HQ USCG Director of Maritime Transportation Systems and Senior Arctic Policy Advisor, are creating a tabletop exercise planned as an in-event for 4-6 May 2021 in Anchorage Alaska focused organized to address policy, plans and initiatives to support HQ USCG and the Coast Guard Enterprise in addressing the 2019 USCG Arctic Strategic Outlook (ArcSO) task to “Advance and Modernize the Arctic Marine Transportation System.” Due to COVID19, ADAC has been forced to reschedule this exercise 5 times, seeking to make this an in-person event. Since COVID immunizations are now underway, ADAC and USCG are hopeful this fifth scheduling will finally result in being able to proceed with the event.
Arctic Maritime Horizons Exercise will provide an orienting and deliberative plenary forum to prepare participants followed by a 3-move exercise to challenge assumptions, gain insights and organize follow-on items of consideration to guide USCG Arctic and Maritime Commerce Strategic Outlook implementation tasks.

Invitational Virtual Workshop
March 25-26, 2021
ADAC and NAADSN (The North American and Arctic Defense and Security Network at Trent University, Peterborough Ontario), kindly invite participants to join us in a follow-up meeting from the Advancing Collaboration in Canada-U.S. Arctic Regional Security (ACCUSARS) conference in September 2020.
The purpose of ACCUSARS II is to create a subset Strategic Foresight Assessment (SFA) for the North American Arctic, by specifically focusing on Alaska and Western Canada.
ACCUSARS I provided an initial SFA for the Canadian Arctic, which provided an initial baseline to be further developed. We plan to conduct ACCUSARS II as a virtual meeting and kindly invite Canadian and American participants from ACCUSARS I to rejoin us for the meeting. Note, later in 2021, ADAC and NAADSN plan to conduct “ACCUSARS III” focusing on Eastern Canada and Greenland to complete a comprehensive Analysis to North American Arctic Security.
March 16-17, 2021
The Arctic region is increasingly recognized as a domain of economic opportunity. However, a critical gap exists between the innovative and entrepreneurial minds capable of capitalizing upon the region’s opportunities, and the commercial and industry entities needed to transition those opportunities into realities. In response to this gap, the Arctic Domain Awareness Center’s (ADAC) Arctic Challenges, Innovations, and Commerce Expo (Arctic CICE) seeks to explore the networks, resources, and infrastructure needed to enable the commercial entrance of Arctic-related products and technologies into the Arctic domain. Drawing from ADAC’s vast experience in federally funded operational research and design, this expo will use an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach to foster conversations around Arctic-centered business pressure points, state-of-the-Arctic-focused R&D, gap analysis of investment and innovation, and the future of business in the region. Participants will be exposed to the latest hardware, software, and people-ware emerging to advance domain awareness, risk mitigation, exploration, Arctic operations, and overall, Arctic security. Please consider joining the virtual event on March 16-17, 2021. Information regarding the conference plan, agenda, and registration coming soon.
